The Wood Lab is about conscious curiosity: experimenting, playing, and pondering.
The Wood Lab has been handcrafting custom furniture pieces and designing in-house since 2020. Founder and carpenter, Vojtech, works alongside his kelpie companion, Pepper, in his Byron Bay based workshop.
Vojtech’s purpose is crafting timeless pieces for his clients, designed to last generations. He values close relationships and invites collaboration with clients to develop perfect solutions with his signature design ethos. Favouring Australian hardwoods, but isn’t impartial to American Walnut, Vojtech’s work is distinctive and enduring: a mitred edge feature creates waterfall grains to accentuate the inherent characteristics of the timber species he’s working with.
Alongside custom creations, The Wood Lab’s collection pieces designed for the residential space: dining tables, coffee tables, beds, consoles, bookcases and storage units, as well as grazing boards (particularly sought after at Christmas time). Previous custom projects include café tables, home office setups, integrated bedroom storage and dresser, and bedroom suites.
